The Reach Out! Program is an outreach program where John 23 staff members go to schools during school hours to facilitate outreach sessions. The staff meets with school counselors to identify academic or social barriers their students may be faced with and then create curriculum and facilitate a five to six-week program where they address these barriers. The goal of this outreach program is to support students in becoming stronger leaders, making wise life decisions and identifying their support systems. By empowering students to overcome certain barriers, we enable them to perform better in school and gain confidence in who they are.
This group of students focuses on social-emotional barriers, self-esteem, healthy relationships, social media, and handling emotions.
This group of students focuses on preparing for the transition from middle school to high school. Topics include: the importance of punctuality, freshman goal setting, self-esteem
and respect, establishing a healthy support system of peers and mentors, and balancing emotion
This group is for students who would benefit from support in processing their experience with loss or illness of a friend or family member, identifying the stages of grief, and physical effects of grief.
