John 23 Educational Center strives to empower students to grow personally, socially, morally, and academically while preparing them for their educational journey as life-long learners and leaders in society.​​ We provide homework help, one to one tutoring and enrichment opportunities for our students. We are a ministry of St. Patrick Parish and located minutes away from downtown Racine.

Working in collaboration with the Program Manager onsite, the Student Coordinator will provide tutoring and homework help during center hours Monday through Thursday 4:00-6:30 for 5th through 12th grade students during the school year. Must be proficient in High School Algebra and Geometry. Familiarity with Khan Academy is a plus.

Job Description

• Provide academic support during after school sessions.
• Monitor student performance and assist students with homework.
• Help staff develop academic materials and lessons relevant to the coursework.
• Administer the STAR assessment. 
• Help assist students with time management strategies, e.g. Help the student create a calendar of deadlines and prioritize assignments.
• Participate in Thriving Thursday activities assisting the Program Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Bachlor degree OR
• Currently taking college courses.
• Complete the Safeguarding All God’s Family, Safe Environment Education session. 
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Be able to maintain healthy boundaries.
• Confidential and professional attitude.
• Reliable transportation.

Schedule & Pay

• 9 Months (September through May). 
• Monday-Thursday 3:00-7:00.
• Non-work days: November 4,5,27,28 2024, December 9,19,23-31 2024, January 1-6,20 2025, February 17 2025, March 11,17 2025, April 21-24 2025, May 26 2025
• Weekend hours are based on the Center needs, ie: community resource fairs.
• $17 per hour.
• Start date September 9th
