Development Coordinator


John 23 Educational Center strives to empower students to grow personally, socially, morally, and academically while preparing them for their educational journey as life-long learners and leaders in society.We provide homework help, one to one tutoring and enrichment opportunities for our students. We are a ministry of St.Patrick Parish and located minutes away from downtown Racine. Our website www.john23educenter.org


We are looking for a passionate person to work with the Executive Director to research and write grants, complete mid-year, end of year reports for key funders, identify and implement fundraising initiatives. Administrative support to the organization's development for sustainable financial growth. 


Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to build capacity by researching, writing and submitting grant applications. 
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants. 
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Program Manager to collect and organize evaluation data for reports. 
  • Track the life cycle of grants to ensure mid-year and end-of-year reports are submitted on time. 
  • Assist with administrative duties associated with the Annual Gift Giving Campaign and Annual Fundraiser. 
  • Attend grant related meetings. 
  • Assist in creating a greater awareness of the mission of John 23 by presenting to local businesses and churches. 
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


Additional Understanding:

  • Have an understanding of the grant calendar.
  • All letters such as the Acknowledgement Letters, Letters of Intent, proposals should be reviewed by the Executive Director before sending them out. In preparing these letters it would be beneficial to discuss with the Executive Director the importance of the goals of the various foundations and the reason to use the terminology of the corporate and foundation grants.
  • Communicate with the Executive Director regarding ways to assist them. 
  • Assume responsibilities of sending out the Acknowledgements of Financial Donations.


Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals. 
  • Strong editing skills. 
  • Basic knowledge and experience with Word and Excel spreadsheets in Google,
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Basic fundraising techniques and strategies. 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research. Strong contributor in team environments 


Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred minimum of two years experience with grant/technical writing. 
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments. 
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. 


Job Specifics

  • 20-25 hours Monday - Thursday September through May (Hybrid)
  • 15-20 hours per week during the summer (as needed & approved by Executive Director)
  • $22-$24 an hour depending upon qualifications and experience.
